The Institute
Xaviers Fire Safety Academy is running under the license of Government of India (The Ministry of Law Justice and Company Affairs) with an objective to impart most advanced training in the Science of Fire technology Viz, Fire Prevention, Fire Protection and Fire Fighting XFSA works to extend, increase and disseminate knowledge regarding fire fighting to make people aware of fire hazards and various inherent losses caused by it. XFSA awards Diploma to its students on successful completion of their courses.
In November 1997, the Board of Directors of XEIMI a sister concern of XFSA, felt the need of providing education and training in this field and thus started Xaviers Fire and Safety Academy as its sub organization. Later on it got associate membership to prestigious and premier body in this field. “The Institution of Fire Engineers (India)” and also “Loss prevention Association of India.” Looking into the pressing demand of Firemen by various industries and the growing job prospects, it was decided by the Board of Directors in February 1998 to give Xavier Fire And Safety Academy an independent status. Finally in October 1999 the status of Xaviers Fire and Safety Academy was upgraded from a suborganisation to a full fledged company which got licensed as “Xaviers Fire Safety Academy” (XFSA).

Today, XFSA is working with an aim to impart most advanced training in the Science of Fire Technology viz. Fire Prevention. Fire Protection and Fire Fighting to its students so as to bring about uniformity in the organization / administrative procedure at the fire fighting site and also to make the fire service capable of saving lives and properties of not only the common men but of various governmental and non-governmental agencies.
Presently XFSA comprises four wings viz, Academic, Consultancy, Training and Research. The Academic wing runs for imparting professional skill/knowledge in the field of fire fighting through its various courses.
The consultancy wing functions to impart consultancy services to different industrial houses and also to different governmental or non-governmental agencies for fire prevention and fire protection. It helps to install fire protection system and also in conducting routine checkups and maintenance of such installations.
The Training wing functions to impart Short Term / Long Term / Specialized training programs to sponsored students, candidates or employees from different institutions, colleges, school and other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
The Research wing conducts researches for finding out various new threats to safe living and safer environment. It also detects and finds out various ways to overcome these threats for a better environment. It also conducts research for various safety measures to be adopted to overcome the devastating after-affects of natural calamities.
The institute has also decided to extend their education among the common mass through seminars and workshops so that the common people especially children, women, housewives, rural population, N.C.C. cadets, scouts guides, guards of high rise buildings. Even our policemen if equipped with basic knowledge of fire fighting and rescue operations would definitely be useful for them while handling fire hazards till the Fire brigade arrives.
The institute is governed by eminent personalities and professionals from industry, business, fire fighting sectors, academics and community services. Flexibility in learning is one of the highlights of this institute.
Meticulous attention is given to the students by highly qualified experienced and committed faculty members in order to provide sound and up to date knowledge in fire fighting technology. Though this is a maiden effort in the eastern region of India, we still hope that our “service for safety” will keep on growing day by day.
Firefighting courses offer you job both in public as well as private sectors. In Government Sector, job is often available even at higher ages. Since this field is under explored, it will definitely remain a promising profession for many more years to come. Employment in this field is mandatory for all organizations where plant and men are at work. This profession is full of job opportunities both in India and abroad.
Experienced professional desirous of high level jobs can try for Grad (I) exams conducted by The Institution of Fire Engineers (India) (I.F.E.) once every year. The Grad (I) exam which is equivalent to B.E. (Fire), requires an experienced fire fighting personnel to clear only four papers to fetch a qualification equivalent to an engineer.
