Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs):

The ECE curriculum provides a wide perspective of the field of electronics and allows the student to decide his future directions. As can be expected, student often diverge into related fields such as computer engineering. The ECE branch provides the perfect ground and flexibility for student who wish to go into other streams.

From the very beginning, the ECE division has taken the lead in establishing well- equipped and modern Lab facilities as well as initiating Ph.D programs and Research and Development in the Institute. The ECE division has produced several Ph.D's in the areas of its activities. Regular Masters's program in the specified areas of Signal Processing, Digital Systems and VLSI Design and Communication Systems are planned out of which the first one has already started since August 1999.

Students from the ECE branch often decide to pursue post-graduate studies, showing their ability to continue research in diverse areas. This illustrates the success of the institute in providing a solid base for serious research and development work. This discipline was introduced in the academic session 2002-03 with an intake of 60 students to meet the growing demand of IT professionals. Presently, faculty of Computer Engineering shares the responsibility with department's faculty in its academic activities.

We aspire our students towards becoming next generation IT professionals capable of generating programming and logical skills, providing networking solutions and becoming leaders in software industry, government and academia.

A number of students from this department often pursue post-graduate studies, exhibiting their ability to continue research in diverse areas. Division of Biotechnology

General Information

Biotechnology is set to revolutionize human life and the society. It is one among the most dynamic areas of science and engineering today, which represents a synthesis of evolving technologies that will propel the industries towards sustainable development. Today, this growing discipline is poised on the interface of various subjects that contribute to the growth of pharmaceutical, agricultural, food and many other industries.

The Division of Biotechnology was conceived with the aim of creating well-trained human resource to fulfill the growing demand in various sectors of Biotechnology. The Division was started during the academic session 2004-05. The division presently offers a four-year degree programme in B.E. Biotechnology with an intake of twenty students per year. At post-graduate level, Ph.D. degree programme is currently offered. Introduction of M. Tech. courses in future is under consideration. The Faculty members and the students of the Division conduct research in diverse areas of basic and applied biology. These include Microbiology, Cell & Molecular Biology and Structural & Computational Biology. The department has developed necessary facilities and infrastructure to support teaching and research activities.

Instrumentation is a very broad area in the sense that it has an interdisciplinary character. There is a proliferation of a variety of Instrumentation systems for a variety of purpose.

There is hardly any area of Engineering, Science and Technology where Instrumentation in one form or the other is not needed. As a certain process is becoming more and more automated, the need for a closer monitoring of inputs and responses become more obligatory and the instruments at the component and sub - system levels tend to become more and more integrated. Full cognizance has been taken of this situation while planning instruction in this area. Students do intensive use of microprocessors and Computers to understand the hardware and software aspect of Intelligent Instrumentation.

Started in 1989, this rather young division offers many courses in Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering also apart from a variety of courses from Instrumentation Technology, modern control theory, Biomedical Instrumentation, Robotics, Industrial Electronics, Computer Controlled Instrumentation, Artificial Intelligence etc.
