ABOUT THE COLLEGE:
S D M College of Ayurveda & Hospital was established in 1992 in the city internationally known for Hoysala sculptures. The president of SDM Educational Society, Ujire, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade with the vision of revitalising the age old Indian Health Heritage has developed an aesthetic green Ayurveda Campus on the principles of Ayurveda blended with modern technological innovations at par with international standards with a strong base for quality Ayurveda education.
The Institution provides under graduation education in Ayurveda for 5 years after 10+2 pre University education. 93 specialists in three surgical and 13 medical disciplines are gifted to the society every year to serve mankind.
The teaching Hospital serenely placed in the vicinity of the Western Ghats provides practical and clinical knowledge to medical graduates and relief to the health seekers. The health consultations and assurances are being provided throughout the day in 16 specialities. To globalise Ayurveda the Institute has signed Memorandum of Understanding with many International Universities.

Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine & Surgery: BAMS
Institute offers Bachelor Degree in Ayurveda (B.A.M.S.) B.A.M.S. course is recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi, and in Karnataka it is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.

B.A.M.S Degree Course:
The B.A.M.S. Degree course is of 5 years and 6 months duration and consists of the following duration:

First Year - 12 months.
Second Year - 12 months.
Third Year - 12 months.
Fourth Year - 18 months
Internship - 12 months.

Eligibility of Admission:
1. Students seeking admission to the first year BAMS degree must have passed the two year PUC examination of the PUC Board, Bangalore or any other examination considered equivalent there to by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optionals and with a practical examination in each subject with minimum 50% marks in these subjects.
2. A candidate who has passed the Pre-professional examination in Medicine conducted by any other recognized university shall also be eligible for admission. Subjects studied in the occasional course will not be considered.
3. The graduate with Chemistry, Botany and Zoology is eligible for admission provided he/she produces a certificate of having passed an examination in Physics, the syllabus of which is equivalent to that of the two year Pre- University Course in Karnataka.
4. In the case of a candidate who has taken Zoology and Botany as separate subjects, the marks in those subjects at the degree level will be considered as Biology marks.
5. A candidate who fulfils any one of the above requirements must have obtained not less than 50% marks in aggregate in the science subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) at the qualifying examination or at a higher (University) examination.
6. No candidate shall be admitted unless he/she has completed 17 years of age as on 31st Dec. of the year of admission.
7. Students who have passed an examination other than Pre - University, (Bangalore), should submit Eligibility Certificate before admission issued by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore
