BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) was Founded in the year 1946 by Late Sri. B. M. Sreenivasaiah a great visionary and philanthropist and nurtured by his illustrious son Late Sri. B. S. Narayan. The Institute located in the heart of Bangalore, the Garden City of India, BMSCE is about 5 KMs from the Central Railway Station. The campus area is 15 Acres with a built-up area of 62,068 Sq.M.
The Institution is accredited to AICTE, New Delhi, Affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka, approved by the Council of Architecture (COA), New Delhi. Computer Science and Engineering
Department of Computer Science & Engineering started in the year 1983 with an intake of 60 students for the undergraduate program. The intake was increased to 90 seats in 2000 and to120 in the year 2011. The department is accredited by NBA AICTE in 2004 for 3 Years and in 2008 for 3years.
The Department of CSE offers BE in Computer Science and Engineering and M. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Electronics and Communication Engineering

Information Science and Engineering

The intake was enhanced to 90 in the year 2000 and then to 120 in the year 2018. The PG program, M.Tech in Computer Network and Engineering under VTU, was started in 2011 with an intake of 18.
Both UG and PG program of the department has been accredited by NBA in Tier-I format [as per Washington Accord] till 2019-20. The department has an outstanding placement record with an average placement percentage of 95% over the last 3 years.
Both UG and PG students are offered with Internships and Remote mentoring projects from various Industries during their final and pre-final years. The department has close interaction with companies such as EMC, TCS, SAP, and IBM to promote student projects.
Mechanical Engineering
Department of Mechanical Engineering started the Under Graduate program in the year 1946 with an intake of 60 which increased to 100 in 2001 and to 120 in the year 2006 and 180 in the year 2014. The department is recognized as a research center by VTU. Department of Mechanical Engineering is accredited by NBA for 5 years on the basis of Washington accord.
The department is adequately funded by various government bodies and supported by industries. A research grant to the tune of 700 lakhs is funded to the department by various agencies like DST, AICTE, DRDO, AR&DB, etc.
The department has a good number of MOUs with various sectors of industry ranging from automotive to manufacturing domains. Various societies like SAE, FPSI, and ASHRAE, etc. have their student chapters on the campus bridging the gap between industry and academia.
Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 1946 and subsequently emerged as the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The Department has the distinction of having its graduates known worldwide for their contributions and accomplishments in varied domains.
The department receives grants from Govt. of Karnataka and offers an undergraduate program B.E, Electrical, and Electronics, with a sanctioned intake of 60. The department is NBA Accredited under Tier I of Washington Accord and has a Student-Faculty Ratio of 14.8:1.
The department offers M.Tech, program in Power Electronics which started in 1991 with a sanctioned intake of 18 which is also NBA Accredited. It has a research Centre under VTU since 2003. It is a recognized AICTE QIP Research Centre since 2012, AICTE-NDF (National Doctoral Fellowship Scheme) Research center since 2018.
Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering was one of the three branches that started when BMS College of Engineering was established in 1946. In the past seven decades, the department has seen a lot of progress in academics, research, and consultancy.
In the year 2008, the UG program was given the academic autonomous status by VTU which enabled us to have our own curriculum to enhance knowledge, skills, and attitudes in students.
The department is recognized as a research center by VTU and as a QIP center by MHRD, which has changed the status of the department from primarily the UG department to the research-based learning center.
Admission Process in BMS College of Engineering
If you wanted to Join BMS College of Engineering in the 1st year of the B.E course, you could get admission into BMS College of Engineering by three modes or by three types of counseling.
KCET conducted by KEA
KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) which is conducted by a government body Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) of the Karnataka State.
If you belong to Karnataka or have Karnataka Residency (Domicile) Certificate, then you can appear for this entrance exam, and if you secure good rank which is about less than five thousand then there would be some chances for you to get
As per the Government Rule, 50% of the total intakes in BMS College of Engineering are reserved for Karnataka students and it is handed over to KEA in which the selections of the students are done on KCET Entrance Exam.
COMEDK UGET conducted by COMEDK
COMEDK (Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka) is an association of Private Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka, conducts UGET (Undergraduate Entrance Test) to select students for the participating Engineering Colleges.
If you are from Karnataka or outside of the Karnataka State, can appear in this entrance test, and to get Direct Admission in BMS College of Engineering through COMEDK your score shouldn t be 1500 for higher branches like Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology or Information Science, and more for other branches.
As per the rule, 30% of the total seats in BMS College of Engineering are filled by the COMEDK UGET Counseling, which would be the application for both Karnataka and Non-Karnataka students.
Management Quota
And remaining, 20% of the total seats in BMS College of Engineering are filled by Management Quota, which is totally in the hand of BMS Educational Trust. BMS Educational Trust is responsible for the allotment of the Management Quota seats on the return of the admission you have to pay some development charges to the Trust.
If you appeared for KCET and/or COMEDK UGET, but unfortunately you are not in the range so that you will get it in the counseling, in such case what you will do, the only choice to get Admission in BMS College of Engineering will be the Management Quota, else you have to wait for one more year for BMS College of Engineering or you can take other engineering colleges as a consolation if you don t want to drop one year.
