LLB or Bachelor of Law/Laws is an undergraduate law course offered by various Indian universities. The course duration is 3-year for which the minimum eligibility criterion is graduation and the other is the integrated course of 5-year duration for undergraduate students. For pursuing law, there are two options 3 year course and integrated 5 year course. Eligibility Criteria to take Admission

Candidates who want to pursue the LLB course should fulfil certain requirements in order to be eligible. Below are the eligibility criteria for LLB courses as mentioned by BCI:

Candidates need to be graduates i.e. they should have passed a bachelor degree of three-year or four-year duration in any subject/ discipline in order to pursue an LLB course.
Apart from this, some colleges also fix a minimum percentage requirement that candidates need to fulfil in order to secure admission in LLB course offered by them. The (minimum) percentage requirement for General category candidates ranges from 45% to 55% and that for SC/ST category candidates it ranges between 35% to 45%.

Advantages and Disadvantages of 3 year LLB Course
A three year course is pursued after possessing any graduation degree and it is imperative that the student has pursued graduation in any discipline and then shall be eligible for a three year course in law. There are people who decide to pursue Engineering or BCom or BA or any other course for that matter, and later decide that they want to pursue Law as a career option. Such candidates can enroll in this course.
In a three year course, the students must undergo dual graduation i.e. one in their respective discipline i.e. BCom/ BA/ BSc/ BTech etc. and then a three year course in Law. This mostly happens when people decide to change their careers.
The course takes longer than the integrated five year LLB For eg: 4 years of engineering + 3 years LLB = 7 years; or 3 years of BCom/ BSC/ BA + three year LLB = 6 years.
Most students who are aware of five-year course, still opt for three-year course in order to gain better perspective in each field.
In three year LLB course students do not have the option to choose any subjects but have to study the formal 3 year syllabus prescribed by the University.
