MSRIT was started in the year 1962 in Yeshwantpur, Bangalore by the Chairman, Dr.M.S.Ramaiah. Another campus named Ramaiah University for M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology is located in the Peenya Industrial area known as MSRUAS.
The institute is affiliated by AICTE and UGC and is ranked among the 100 Universities in India. It has been ranked top ten among the private Colleges in India. The College is the oldest engineering college with 50 years of teaching experience. Both the campuses have a hostel, canteen, lab, library and other facilities.
