Kerala University Distance Education

The Kerala University Distance Education formerly known as the University of Travancore set up in 1937. It was among the oldest universities in India. The university was the sixteenth university established in Travancore under the madras university. It comprises the 10 colleges during the initial setup. The distance education center at the university came into existence in 1976.

Initially, it was a research and teaching department which worked for the education of the less privileged people such as women and senior citizens. It is a pioneering center for distance learning in the state. The distance learning MBA & BBA is the most demanded course in the university. There are more than 7,000 students enrolled in the course across the country.

The Univesity is accredited with a grade A certificate by NAAC. It is also a UGC-DEB-certified university for different courses. It offers 25 courses in distance learning mode in various undergraduate and postgraduate subjects. English is the primary language of course except for the language courses. The various courses offered come under the department of literature, science, humanities, commerce, IT, and information science.
