About VIT University Vellore
VIT University Vellore (Vellore Institute of Technology) is a self-financed technical institution in located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. VIT University Vellore was started in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College (VEC) by G. Vishwanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government.
In 2001, the MHRD department of India conferred University status on Vellore Engineering College and then it became VIT University.
VIT was established with the aim of providing quality higher education on par with international standards.
