Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering (R.V. College of Engineering or RVCE) is a private technical co-educational college located in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Established in 1963, RVCE has 11 departments in engineering, one school in architecture, and a Master of Computer Applications department. It is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The undergraduate courses are granted academic autonomy by the university. RVCE is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), all its departments are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and its school of Architecture is accredited by the Council of Architecture (COA). It was founded, and is managed by the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samiti Trust in Bangalore. It has been recognised as a centre of excellence by the Union Government of India and is considered as the most preferred college in Bangalore to study engineering.
The college has twinning programs and collaborations with many institutions across the world, as well as collaborations with the industry. The annual festival of the college is called 8th Mile, and each of the departments host their own festivals.
The students of RVCE operate many student projects, most notable being the ones supported by the Indian Space Research Organisation
DIRECT ADMISSION IN RV ENGINEERING COLLEGE 2017-18
The Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) in Jayanagar, Bangalore, which manages the college was founded (as Rashtreeya Sikshana Samiti) in 1940 by Sivananda Sarma. It was formed as a trust in 1964. RSST currently operates over 25 institutions, educating over 15000 students.[6] Sivananda Sarma and Meda Kasturiranga Setty of RSST were responsible for the setting up of RVCE in 1963. The college initially offered degrees in three disciplines: mechanical engineering, civil engineering and electrical engineering, and it operated from the R.V. Teacher's college campus in Jayanagar.
Hostels
RVCE has 4 hostels on campus, namely the Cauvery Hostel for first year students, the Diamond Jubilee Block hostel for the second year students, the Chamundi Block for the third year students, and the Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Block for the fourth year students. The hostels on campus are completely meant for boys. The college, along with the managing trust (RSST) operates 4 other hostels in Bangalore located in Jayanagar, J.P. Nagar, and Rajarajeshwari Nagar meant exclusively for the girls
Admission
Students are admitted to undergraduate courses on basis of their merit in the Karnataka CET test, or in the COMED-K undergraduate test. Students are also admitted through a management quota, which places no merit requirement; students are directly admitted to a course upon the orders of the college management (in this case, the managing trust). There is a lateral entry scheme in place, by which students holding diploma degrees can enter directly to the second year of study in engineering. Students, upon graduating, receive a Bachelor of Engineering or a Bachelor of Architecture degree. The total undergraduate strength allotted to the college is 3160.
Students are admitted to postgraduate courses on basis of their GATE test scores, as well as on their Post Graduate Karnataka CET scores. Students, upon graduating receive a Master of Technology, Master of Computer Applications or a Master of Architecture degree. The total postgraduate strength allotted to the college is 616.

RV College of Engineering (RVCE), Mysore Road
Note: RVCE is an autonomous college under VTU i.e. they have their own curriculum, exams and rules but the degree is awarded by VTU.
Location:
Located on Mysore Road, RV College of Engineering (RVCE) is quite far from the centre of the city and it takes about an hour to reach the college without traffic. However it s easily accessible as a lot of BMTC buses ply here. College also provides bus facility for 15,000 a year. Almost equal numbers of students travel by BMTC and college bus.
Infrastructure:
The RVCE campus is huge and is also very beautiful. There is a separate block for each department. The academic infrastructure is top class. Labs are of course well-equipped and also have equipment which are not usually found in any other colleges of the city. The entire campus is Wifi enabled, which however isn't very reliable. Library is pretty big and has a lot of books. But it needs to enhance its collection as some of the books are not found in sufficient numbers. Also college needs to provide better facilities for sports. There are a couple of playgrounds (unlike many other engineering colleges in Bangalore, where there are absolutely no grounds or open space) but and they are not in a very good condition and students in general aren't too happy with this factor.
Hostels for 2nd and final year are new and they re nice. The first years hostels are average. But the 3rd years hostels are old and in a pathetic condition. There are just 4 bathrooms between 64 students. Mess food is fine but offers no variety to students. Hostel charges are Rs 45,000 a year including mess charges.
Fees:
For Karnataka CET students - Rs 33,000 per year.
For COMEDK students - Rs 1.25 Lakh per year.
Faculty:
Some of the faculty are pretty amazing, but they are few. Half of the faculty members are freshers who don t have much of an experience. Communication in class is in English and sometimes in Kannada as well. So outsiders might face problems understanding what they teach. Quite a few teachers are also said to be partial to local students. Overall the faculty here are not the kind that one expects to be at one of the top colleges in city.
Attendance & Discipline:
Attendance is a big issue in RVCE. You are expected to have at least 85%. A 10% relaxation is given for genuine medical reasons or for participating in extra-curricular activities. But below 75% they ll make you run around but below 65% you ll have to appear for fast track semester as they call it. A fast track semester is held during vacations in between regular sems. If you fail in Fast Track Exams too, then you'll get a back. Attendance also depends to a great extent on which department you're talking about: chemical is the strictest while mechanical is most lenient
