Construction engineering is a professional discipline that deals with the designing, planning, construction, and management of infrastructures such as highways, bridges, airports, railroads, buildings, dams, and utilities. Construction Engineers are unique such that they are a cross between civil engineers and construction managers. They learn the designing aspect much like civil engineers and construction site management functions much like construction managers.
Career
The construction industry in the United States provides employment to millions with all types and levels of education. Construction contributes 14% of the United States Gross National Product. Construction engineering provides much of the design aspect used both in the construction office and in the field on project sites. To complete projects construction engineers rely on plans and specifications created by architects, engineers and other constructors.
Educational requirements
A typical construction engineering curriculum is a mixture of engineering mechanics, engineering design, construction management and general science and mathematics. This usually leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. The B.S. degree along with some construction experience is sufficient for most entry level construction engineering jobs. Graduate school may be an option for those who want to go further in depth of the construction and engineering subjects taught at the undergraduate level.
Educational Qualification: Minimum 50% Marks in Higher Secondary Exam or the Indian School Certificate Exam Equivalent to 10+ 2 Higher Secondary Exams with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
For IIT/BITS/VIT Pilani Minimum 60% Marks for General OBC Category & 55% Marks for SC/ST
Age for general category should not have crossed 25 years of age on 01 October of the Years of Admission.
Duration 4 Years
