HIGH-VOLTAGE DC (HVDC) systems became a viable option for accommodating bulk power transmission over long distance. They can function technically feasible solutions for connecting large offshore wind firms located farther than 70 km far away from the coast. Furthermore, thanks to their innate ability to attach asynchronous systems, HVDC technology also can be suitable means for interconnection between different AC systems to enhance the safety of power supply. A large number of point-to-point HVDC link projects are launched and already started their commercial operations.
