One of the oldest and most important Ghats, Dashashwamedh Ghat is one of the most vibrant Ghats of Varanasi. There are two Hindu beliefs about this ghat, first that this ghat was built by Lord Brahma to welcome Lord Shiva; another legend is that 10 horses were sacrificed here during the Yagya. Dashashwamedh Ghat Aarti is worth seeing in the evening. Performances by young pundits dressed in saffron robes and the Ganga Aarti take place as an elaborate ceremony, ending with worship, dance and fire. The light of the lamps burning on the banks of the river and the smell of sandalwood envelops the ghat. The view of Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur, located near the ghat, is also worth a visit. For more information, visit: https://kashibanaras.com/dashashwamedh-ghat/
