    Founder
The Jesuit Order was founded by St. Ignatius Loyola in the 16th century. Formerly a soldier, he took to the cause of serving humanity. When a career in the military under a monarch was shed by him, he took up the more worthy cause of becoming a soldier of Jesus Christ possessed with a single vision of establishing a world of humanity and justice.

St. Ignatius Loyola had a keen desire to spread education and knowledge, mediums of liberation for a just and equitable society. His ideals preserved and practiced in the most reverential manner form the bedrock of the Jesuits to this day. Around 20,000 Jesuits in the world are committed to the cause of spreading higher education.

Students who enrol in St. Josephs College are instilled with a unique combination of appropriate attitudes and empathy along with skill sets and high levels of competence. Our students are expected to not merely excel but also imbibe in this excellence deep-seated virtues of service to humanity.
    Patron of the College
The Patron of our College and model for our students is St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus.
True to his life, St. Joseph is called a just man. He was a person of faith in God and in other fellow human beings.
For his livelihood, he toiled. The motto of the College,
"Fide et Labore" , which means faith and toil, reflects the life and spirit of St. Joseph who was a carpenter by profession and the protector of the Holy Family.
Therefore, it is right that he is our patron. We want him to protect, guide and inspire us into a life of hard work, toil and faith.
    College Emblem and Motto
The emblem of an institution is the central representation of the core values which it stands for. Envisioned by the French Foreign Missionary Fathers in 1882, the emblem and motto announce these core values of the institution.

The emblem is made up of two scrolls, one scroll is placed above the crown, on which is inscribed the motto of the Institution in Latin - "Fide et Labore" which translated to "Faith and Toil" and on the other scroll is placed beneath the palm leaves which bear the name of the Institution. The shield which bears a cross in the centre is symbolic of Christian faith. There are two bees on either side of the lower part of the cross representing hard and persevering work. The crown, which is placed above the shield, is a heraldic symbol of supremacy and glory. The compartment beneath the shield consists of palm leaves that are a sign of victory.

The College motto is 'Fide et Labore' which means 'Faith and Toil'. Faith among other things gives persons a commitment to God, to his fellowmen, to intellectual pursuits. Toil is a necessary pre-requisite for success.
Ring out the battle call of duty !
Unfurl the flag of faith and Toil !
We deem our soul's eternal beauty.
    A life-long Victor's worthy spoil.
A thousands such are proudly gone before us
To win and spread our College renown:
tis ours to swell with our voices the chorus
And with our deeds enrich her crown.

    Chorus
Faith and Toil ! conquer less alliance
Wherein we clasp human hands unto God's !
    In his control, find we true self-reliances;
My hand and God's - what`er the odds
My hand and God's - what`er the odds
    My hand and God's
Evils onset hold in defiance !

    LIFE SKILLS
The institute has a thought provoking tag line Transcending Boundaries of Formal Education , which clearly underscores the fact that every individual irrespective of their role in society needs certain essential skills beyond their domain knowledge, in order to be successful in whichever walk of life they choose to excel in.
ST. JOSEPH S endeavors to satisfy this need through training, behavioral coaching and mentoring. The objective is to touch as many lives as possible, providing enduring values in the process and transform the future generations of the society to become better citizens of this world.
    TRAINING
    Training for students
Curriculum for students includes communication skills, personality development, aptitude and finishing school skills training, which is interlaced in their regular course work. This helps in improving their employability quotient to a great extent, as companies who come to campuses to employ students look for these attributes in new recruits, more than their prowess in their domain skills. Hence the students transition from the campus to the corporate / business world becomes very smooth and seamless.
    Training for the teaching staff
Use of innovative techniques as alternatives to chalk & talk , effective use of technology to attain success in teaching Gen-Y , use of path-breaking methods like flipped classrooms are some of the areas that are focussed upon. This helps the faculty in surpassing the expectations of the students in their learning process, and achieves the desired objective of creating thinkers rather than learners by rote.
Training for non-teaching staff and all others
Administrative, non-teaching and other staffs who contribute to the growth of the institutions in the group are provided training periodically in order that they reach their highest potential in their respective areas of work. The objective is to ensure that they understand the importance of their roles and take pride in performing their duties and derive satisfaction for having contributed to the overall success of the group.
