Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering is started in the 1979; it was founded by Sri R Dayananda Sagar and is run and maintained by the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peeta Trust. The Institution is prolonged in 28 acres of land on a hillock in Kumaraswamy Layout, Bangalore South.

Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering organizes seminars, workshops, teaching talks, sports and extracurricular activities. With 1850 systems, student information system (SIS) and several digital classrooms, it was one of the first education centres to get Wi-Fi in the country. Research programmes in Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering are sponsored by AICTE, AR&DB, KSCST. The college has the autonomous status under Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum.
